VINYL INSTALLATION "HINGE METHOD"

This procedure illustrates how one person can install a large vinyl graphic

Preparation: Both the vinyl and the application surface should be allowed to warm or cool to room temperature before application. The surface should be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol or other suitable cleaning solvent. Allow surface to dry.

Position graphic and tape in place. Apply masking tape "hinge" across the X or Y axis (the shortest distance usually being preferred) unless surface is curved. In this case, tape across the flattest area.

Lay graphic back across hinge and remove one half of the silicone backing paper, exposing the adhesive side of the vinyl. Cut away the backing paper (also called release liner) being careful not to cut the painted surface!

Squeegee exposed vinyl from the center outwards, using firm, overlapping strokes. Remove the masking tape "hinge".

Remove second half of liner and repeat process on remaining section of vinyl graphic.

Remove the transfer tape covering the graphic by pulling back 180° across itself. Remove any trapped air bubbles by piercing with a pin or sharp X-Acto knife tip. Work surface flat with finger tip.
